Objective

Create poster to promote cycling in Columbus Ohio.

Solution:

We were 1 of 30 local artists chosen to take part in a summer 2014 poster show and sale to promote cycling in central Ohio. The subject matter being wide open, I looked to one of my favorite designers for inspiration. Looking at the posters of Ludwig Hohlwein (1874-1949). What I always loved about his fashion advertisements was his ability to showcase the fabrics. He would create a scene of his liking but lay the fabric pattern in flat. Combined with a fun image of a cyclist reading his paper and drinking his tea while riding past a cafe with his dog was the image we fell in love with. We then produced the prints with a screen printer in South Carolina for the event and for sale through the studio.
